INEZ & WELLINGTO SALDERInez and Wellington Sadler are Sonia's parents. They live in Bowie, Maryland. Wellington enjoyed a long and prosperous career in the military. Inez, a former art teacher taught Sonia how to use scabbard. Both Inez and Wellington are involved and committed to preserving Sonia's art and legacy.

JEN CULLERTON JOHNSONJen is the author of several works, including a non-fiction children’s book Seeds of Change that is an engaging and inspiring invitation into the life and work of Wangari Maathai, Noble Peace Prize Winner and founder of the Greenbelt Movement. She is the co-founder of GreenLiteracy.org a leader of social change, aligning educational institutions with lifelong ecological stewardship. Jen is one of the creators of the Karma Garden, the largest collaborative community garden in the United States that serves incarcerated youth. She is an adjunct professor at Wright College, City College of Chicago and a literature teacher at Chicago Public Schools.

DR. PATRICIA DEANDr. Patricia Dean received her Ph.D. from Penn State University in Curriculum and Instruction with emphases on Language and Literacy Education and Early Childhood Education. Prior to her relocation to Salisbury, MD in 2002, Patricia resided in northwestern Pennsylvania where she taught Pre-K, K, 1st & 2nd Grade, and Gifted Education (Grades 1 through 12) for many years.
